N3X Scan — see your whole network in seconds

A lightweight native app for discovering and inventorying devices on your local network. It combines ping, safe TCP probes, reverse DNS and the ARP table to find devices that block standard echo requests. Results, history and trust labels stay on your computer.

What N3X Scan can do

Automatic subnet detection

Detects the active interface and suggests a safe scan range. Choose quick, standard, deep or custom-port profiles.

IP, MAC, vendor and hostname

Combines multiple sources to show addresses, hostname, network adapter vendor, latency and the likely device type.

Services and exposure review

Recognises SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, SMB, RDP, VNC, RTSP, printers and databases, and flags services that deserve review.

History and change detection

Stores the last 20 scans locally, highlights new devices and lets you return to an earlier view of the network.

N3X quick actions

Open a web panel or RDP, send Wake-on-LAN, or copy the IP and jump straight into N3X Shell or N3X Remote.

Safe operating boundaries

A local scan covers private RFC1918 networks only, with caps on subnet size and custom ports. It requires neither Nmap nor administrator privileges.

The view from the internet

Switch the vantage point and see what the outside world reaches. The n3x.pl server connects to the public address you name and reports which ports answer and what that means — and the result joins the same history, CSV export and PDF report.

Getting started

  1. 1Choose the Windows installer (.exe) or macOS disk image (.dmg), install and launch N3X Scan. It automatically detects your active network adapter and suggests a subnet.
  2. 2Choose a scan profile. Standard is the best starting point; deep checks more services, and custom accepts up to 128 ports.
  3. 3Click “Scan network”. Open a device to use its web panel, RDP, Wake-on-LAN, N3X Shell or N3X Remote actions.
  4. 4To see the network from the outside, switch the vantage point to “From the internet”. Your own public address is the default target; scanning any other address requires confirming you are authorised to test it.

N3XScan

N3XScan discovers devices and monitors your local network. It does not require Nmap or administrator privileges.

Requirements and installation

Windows 11 or macOS (Intel or Apple Silicon).

  1. Download the ready installer using the download button on this page.
  2. On Windows, open the .exe file and follow the installer. On macOS, open the .dmg file and drag the app into Applications.
  3. Open the installed app.

Use the current release linked on the product page. Installation does not require source code or developer tools.

Run your first scan

  1. Open the app on the network you want to inspect.
  2. Choose a private device address or subnet and a port profile.
  3. Start the scan and review discovered devices, names and available services.
  4. Use local history to compare successive scans.

Local scans support private IPv4 addresses, up to 4094 hosts and custom ranges of up to 128 ports.

Scan from the internet

This mode checks the target from an N3X server, providing a different viewpoint from a computer inside your network. It defaults to the public address used by the app's connection. Another target requires confirmation that you are authorized to scan it. Custom ranges support up to 100 ports; private addresses are rejected.

Results and troubleshooting

No response does not necessarily mean a device is off: a firewall may block ping or selected ports. Check your network or VPN connection, address range and access rules.

History stays local. Internet scans send the target address and scan profile to the server. Scan only devices and networks you are authorized to inspect.
